(SYDNEY, NS) The UNB REDS fell 83-77 to the Cape Breton Capers, in overtime, in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball play, Friday in Sydney.

The REDS, who trailed 47-37 at the half, fought back to draw even, 64-64, after three quarters.

Tied 76-76 after regulation, the REDS managed just a single point in overtime as the Capers pulled away.

Brandon Laryea and Connor Landell led the REDS. Each had a double-double.

Laryea scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Landell had 14 points and a dozen rebounds.

Marcus Barnes had 15 points for the REDS, and Mattias Muscroft came off the UNB bench to score 11.

Liai Tong scored a game-high 24 points for the Capers, who got a dozen points each from Aaron Cunningham and Tayshaun Thomas.

The REDS are now 2-and-1 while the Capers improve to 3-and-0.

The teams will meet again Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
