(WOLFVILLE, NS) The UNB REDS watched a fourth quarter lead disappear in a 73-69 Atlantic University Sport men's basketball loss at Acadia on Friday night.
The REDS led 42-40 at half-time and took a 55-52 lead into the final quarter.
The host Axemen outscored UNB 21-14 in the fourth, rallying for their four point victory.
Marcus Barnes scored a game-high 24 points in the loss while Brandon Laryea added 20, including the 500thregular season point of his AUS career.
Connor Landell recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Matthias Muscroft came off the REDS bench to score seven points and pull down four rebounds.
Ryan Regault led the home team scoring 13 points and adding nine rebounds and nine assists.
Kyle Munro scored 15 points and had eight assists, while Gabe Davignon poured in 16 points.
Acadia, winners of six straight, are now 6-1.
The REDS, now 5-2, are part of a three-way tie for second place with STFX and Cape Breton.
UNB visits Dalhousie on Saturday for a scheduled 8:00pm tip.
Acadia hosts UPEI.
