(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE) The UNB REDS scored their third consecutive win, 82-64 over the UPEI Panthers, in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball, Friday night in Charlottetown.
The REDS exploded for 30 points in the second quarter to take a 45-35 lead to the half time break.
They added 22 more in the third quarter on route to an 18-point victory.
Mark Tobin led the REDS with 18 points and three steals while Marcus Barnes added 17 points.
Conner Landell scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Ben Power came off the UNB bench to score 11.
Owen Smith came off the Panthers bench to lead his team with 18 points. Kyree Thompson contributed a dozen points and six rebounds.
With the win, the REDS improve to 9-5, good for a share of second place in the conference standings with Acadia.
The Panthers are 5-8 and part of a three-way tie for fifth place with Memorial and Dalhousie.
The REDS and Panthers conclude their weekend series on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
