REDS Hold Off Tigers
(FREDERICTON, NB) Eden Otshudi scored a team-high 22 points and Conner Landell recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds as the UNB REDS beat the Dalhousie Tigers 81-72 in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball action, Saturday night at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
The REDS led 20-11 after one quarter and 34-25 at the half-time break.
The Tigers put up 28 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little and too late.
The was UNB's fifth straight and improved their record to 11-5, good for second in the AUS standings.
Dal is now 5-11. The Tigers sit in seventh place.
Marcus Barnes contributed 13 points to the REDS' effort and Ben Power registered two rebounds and four steals.
All five UNB starters scored in double digits.
Riley Stewart scored a game-high 25 points to lead Dal. He pulled down half a dozen rebounds too.
Lydell Husbands dished out nine assists and Jacob Christie came off the Tigers bench to score 14 points and grab three rebounds.
Up next for the REDS, a battle of the top two teams in the conference.
UNB visits Antigonish on Saturday to take on the STFX X-Men. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.
