(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS began defence of their Atlantic University Sport men's hockey title with a decisive 11-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers, Friday night at UNB's Aitken Centre.
Camaryn Baber and Michael Petizian each scored twice, with Baber's goals coming just 45 seconds apart mid-way through the second period to break open what had been a close game.
Cody Morgan and Jax Dubois both had a goal and two assists while Justin Nolet, Colton Kammerer, Nico Savoie and newcomer Eli Barnett all had a pair of assists.
Nick Blagden, Peter Reynolds, Braeden MacPhee, Luca D'Amato and Gage Heyes all added singles.
Kai Dunits and Zak Smith scored for Dal.
Remi Delafontaine made 17 saves on 19 shots in the UNB net while Robbie Forbes surrendered all 11 UNB goals on 49 REDS shots.
The REDS skate back into action Saturday night when they host STFX. Game time is 7:00pm.
The Tigers travel to Charlottetown to face UPEI. That game is scheduled for a 7:00pm start as well.
