(MONCTON, NB) The UNB REDS dropped a 4-3 decision, in overtime, in Moncton on Wednesday night in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action.
Moncton's Denis Toner scored the game-winner with just eight seconds left in overtime.
Toner's winner came after a flurry of goals in the final moments of regulation.
Cole Huckins scored late in the opening period to pull the REDS even, 1-1, after 20 minutes.
Les Aigles Bleus led 2-1 after the second period.
Early in the third, Peter Reynolds fed a pass across the slot to Camaryn Baber who once again pulled the REDS even.
With just 50 seconds left to play, Cody Morgan capitalized on a rebound in front of the Moncton net, lifting the puck past an outstretched Nathan Darveau in the Aigles Bleus' net.
UNB's lead was short-lived.
29 seconds later, Jules Boilard re-directed a slap-pass from the blue-line, tipping the puck past UNB's Remi Delafontaine to tie the game and force overtime.
After UNB's Jax Dubois was whistled for a late interference penalty and the home team working on the power-play, Toner's goal won it for the Aigles Bleus.
Through five games, the REDS are 2-2-1-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL).
They play host to the UPEI Panthers on Saturday night. Game time is 7:00pm.
