(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS scored three third period goals, including two into an empty net, in a 6-3 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey, Saturday evening in Halifax.
The REDS, who led 1-0 after 20 minutes and 3-2 after two periods, got a pair of goals from former Halifax Moosehead Braeden MacPhee in the win.
Cody Morgan and Roberto Mancini both had a goal and an assist, while Justin Nolet and Jax Dubois also scored for UNB.
Michael Petizian had two assists.
Charlie Da Fonseca, Davis Cooper, and Jacob Holmes scored for the Huskies.
Remi Delafontaine made 28 saves on 31 shots for the win in the UNB net, his second win in as many nights. Marcus Vandenberg gave up four goals on 27 shots.
The REDS jump into a two-way tie, with Saint Mary's, for third place in the AUS standings.
UNB's record is 13-8-1-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) while Saint Mary's is 12-7-1-2, both good for 27 points, four back of conference co-leaders Moncton and Acadia.
The REDS return home and will host STFX on Friday night. Game time is 7:00pm.
The Huskies visit Acadia the same night.
