(FREDERICTON, NB) Injuries brought an early end to Saturday afternoon's Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game between the UNB REDS and Dalhousie Tigers at UNB's Aitken Centre.
Injuries to both Tigers goalies forced officials to call the game with 59 seconds remaining in the second period.
The REDS won 6-2.
Braeden MacPhee scored twice to lead the REDS while Gage Heyes scored once and assisted on two others.
Cole Huckins, Cody Morgan, and Stuart Rolofs also scored for the REDS, who scored three times in the second period to take over what had been a close game.
Michael Petizian and Justin Nolet both registered a pair of assists in the UNB effort.
Dal got goals from Colin MacDougall and Josh O'Connor.
Tigers' starting netminder Kaiden Kirkwood was removed from the game with six-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second period. His replacement, Carter Richardson, was forced out after just 5:19 of action.
Without a third goaltender, the Tigers were unable to continue.
Remi Delafontaine made eight saves on ten shots in the UNB net to earn the win.
The REDS are now 15-8-1-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) with their fourth consecutive win while the Tigers drop to 1-21-1-1.
The REDS are back in action on Friday when they travel to Antigonish to take on the STFX X-Men. Game time is 7:00pm.
